Buying gifts for teenage girls can definitely be a difficult task during the holiday season. I know, I have one! Is it on trend? Is it cool? Will she like it? A few of my friends reach out to me every year to gather gift ideas for their teenage girls. Last year, my daughter and I had so much fun creating the 2016 Holiday Gift Guide for Teenage Girls that we sat down together and created the NEW 2017 edition!
For reference, my daughter, Grace, is 15 years old and these are the gift ideas that she highly recommends!
SHOES
The slip-on sneaker trend has been a popular one for women of all ages this year, and teenage girls are definitely loving it, too. Grace actually has these Steve Madden Slip-on Shoes and wears them all of the time. She says, “I love them because they are easy to put on and go with almost every outfit.”
PS. She said the Vans are cool, too.
As far as athletic shoes, the black Nike’s were all the rage last year. This year, she loves the retro Adidas Shoes like the ones pictured below. She wears hers with everything from jeans and joggers to skirts and dresses.
CLOTHES
Jean jackets have been popular for many years. This Denim Jacket with the faux shearling collar is much warmer than your regular jean jacket and is perfect for a cold day in the mid-west. Grace thinks the fuzzy collar adds a “cool, wintery vibe.”
Last year, it was all about the leggings. This year, it’s all about the joggers. Grace loves joggers because they are “super comfy” and she can wear them to create a sporty or casual, everyday look. Nordstrom has a so many joggers in stock right now, and she likes these BP Joggers because they are comfortable and stylish.
Grace actually has these Rue21 Joggers pictured below, and they are only $10. So, hurry up and grab a few pair for your teenage girl.
ACCESSORIES
Pendant necklaces layered over t-shirts and sweaters are still popular with my teen, but right now Grace is all about gold and rose gold. She loves these stackable rings because you can stack them together on a few different fingers to create a “fun look”. This 10-pack of Rings is only $12.99 so it’s an inexpensive way for your teen to try out the trend.
Most teen girls have their cell phones close by at all times, and every girl needs to have a cute case. Grace found this adorable phone case from a shop on Etsy. She loves this one because it’s “girly and trendy.” (PS. The Etsy shop she found is so cool that I would love any one of the phone cases found on the site.)
If you are looking for a fun gadget-type gift for your teenage girl, these polaroid type cameras are a great gift because the photo immediately comes out of the camera – Hello Instant Gratification! Yes, they still take a lot of selfies, but they also love posting these small polaroid photos on bulletin boards or on collages in their rooms.
I know Kate Spade is expensive, especially for a teenage girl, but during the holidays I tend to splurge. Grace loved the Kate Spade wallet she received last year. Because of her love for rose gold this year, she thinks this Kate Spade watch and this Rose Gold purse are beautiful!
Tip: I always buy the Kate Spade when it’s 30% off which is usually a few times a year. Sign up to receive their emails.
Beauty Items
Her love of rose gold this year can be carried over into beauty items, too. If your teen is tired of wearing a basic neutral on her nails, but wants a color to go with every outfit, try these pretty options below.
Essie makes a pretty one called Penny Talk.
OPI makes a lighter colored version in Worth a Pretty Penne.
At 15, Grace still doesn’t wear a lot of makeup, but for special occasions she’ll create a soft, natural makeup look. If I had to pick one makeup brand that she loves – it’s Too Faced. (Thank you – Kandee Johnson!). Kandee Johnson, a popular You Tuber that all of the teenage girls love, partnered with Too Faced and created a pretty collection of makeup geared towards teenage girls. Below is the I Want Kandee Candy Eyeshadow Palette.
Too Faced also had another big launch this year which was their Peach Collection starring the Peach Perfect Foundation and the Just Peachy Velvet Mattes Eyeshadow Palette. All of the items in the collection have a sweet peach smell that’s not too overpowering and colors that can match any skin tone.
I really don’t think you can go wrong with any of our picks this year. I hope you found this helpful – Happy Holiday shopping!!!
