Last week, my college girlfriends and I were all on a group text chatting about our upcoming holiday plans. We all have kids in the 12-18 year old range, and one of them asked if I had any ideas on what I was going to get my teenage daughter for Christmas. So, I put together a list of everything my 14 year old loves and thought I would share it with all of you.
BEAUTY ITEMS:
I think all teenage girls should be on some sort of skin care routine – get them to start washing their face every morning and night. This Clinique 3 step kit is a great one to get your teenager into this daily habit.
LUSH – you haven’t heard of LUSH? I’m sure you will soon enough. My daughter and many other teenage girls are obsessed with anything Lush. My daughter’s favorite is the Yoga Bath Bomb. You drop this bomb into a warm bath; it fizzes and turns into pretty colors while you are soaking in the tub.
Trust me when I say you need to go ahead and buy one of these for yourself! The Beauty Blender is a must for any teenager or woman who wears makeup. I’ve tried a few “dupes” on the market and nothing compares to the original Beauty Blender. Applying makeup with this sponge will make any liquid foundation look flawless.
Even if the teenage girl you are buying for doesn’t wear a lot of makeup, they all seem to love lipgloss. I love this NYX lipgloss set because all of the colors are very wearable, which rarely happens in a holiday set.
ATHLETIC ITEMS:
Most teenagers are very active and mine lives in athletic wear. My daughter’s favorite sports bra is this one by Nike. She says this one is “super comfortable” because she can adjust the straps. It also comes in a variety of colors.
Water bottles are popular with teenage girls and boys. Swell and Yeti are the most popular brands and guest what? They really work! We tested it and it stayed cold for many hours. My daughter loves the Swell bottle, while my 16 year old son loves the Yeti cup. Make sure you only wash these by hand.
You can’t go wrong with a pair of Nike or Adidas shoes for any teenager. My daughter and her friends love the plain black ones, and they come in so many colors. Can you believe Adidas is making a comeback? I had a pair of these white ones many, many years ago… (I bet you did, too.) 🙂
A huge trend for teenage girls is athletic leggings. (They wear them a little differently than I do because I like to cover my rear, but that’s beside the point.) My daughter is on the small side barely hitting 5 ft tall so she can still fit in a girl’s size at Ivivva (part of Lululemon) or can wear 2/XXS in Lululemon. Trust me when I say, you can’t go wrong with leggings.
ACCESSORIES:
I’m assuming the teenage girl you are buying for already has a phone. It seems like they are all taking selfies for snapchat, instagram or the newest social media site. So, in addition to the phone, they like accessories for their phones – cases, headphones and portable chargers. My daughter loves her Beats headphones and says they “look cool” and cancel out all the noise especially when she’s on a plane.
With winter quickly approaching and depending on where you live, your teenager might enjoy a new coat. We live in Minnesota so a warm coat is a MUST! We just bought this coat for my 14 year old the other day and she likes because “it’s not too puffy and the fur on the hood is not itchy.” You can’t go wrong with a North Face coat or jacket.
My daughter currently has a Vera Bradley wallet and has enjoyed it for many years. This year for Christmas, she’s asking for a Kate Spade Wallet and I think this one is cute and it’s on sale!
Last but not least is to get your teenager a great pair of snow boots. Again, depending on where you live, your teen might not need these, but if you have a chance of snow in your area or you are planning a ski vacation, warm snow boots are a great gift. My daughter and I both own these Sorel boots (except mine have fur) and we LOVE them!
I hope this gave you some ideas for your teenage girl. Wishing you all a Happy Holiday season!
